Pune, 6th August, 2025: Triumph Motorcycles launches the new Thruxton 400, marking the return of one of the most recognizable names in motorcycling.

Joining Triumph’s acclaimed Modern Classic line-up, the Thruxton is reborn as an enticing 398cc cafe racer with a focused sports riding experience, launching first in India, with a global roll-out expected later this year.

Sporting the unmistakable silhouette and assertive stance of Triumph’s legendary cafe racer, the Thruxton 400 features clip-on handlebars, a sculpted tank, and a colour-coded bullet seat cowl. Capturing the spirit of the original Thruxton with a new, more exhilarating iteration of the best-in-class TR-Series engine, the new model delivers an even more addictive top end.

A dedicated chassis with revised suspension setup provides a sportier, more engaged ride, while modern rider-centric technology including switchable traction control, torque-assist clutch, and ride-by-wire throttle ensures every turn feels intuitive and responsive. With class-leading service intervals and Triumph’s renowned build quality, the Thruxton 400 offers exceptional value.

Paul Stroud, Chief Commercial Officer, Triumph Motorcycles said: “The Thruxton name is synonymous with an exhilarating ride, a focused riding position and the iconic cafe racer silhouette. The new Thruxton 400 delivers all that and more, representing exceptional value that will appeal to a younger audience who long to own a stylish motorcycle with the modern performance and premium finish of a Triumph. With its uprated engine and sportier ergonomics, the Thruxton 400 is an exciting addition to our Modern Classic range, building on the accessibility and confidence inspiring handling that has made the 400 range so popular.”

Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director, Bajaj Auto Ltd said: “The Triumph business in India has seen tremendous momentum over the past year — from expanding our network and experience stores to a growing community of passionate riders who are engaging deeply through regular rides and events. The response to the Modern Classic 400cc range has exceeded expectations, and the new Thruxton 400 is a worthy addition. It blends authentic cafe racer styling with exhilarating performance and exceptional build quality. With this launch, we continue to offer Indian riders not just motorcycles, but iconic machines that evoke emotion and foster community.”

Legendary Racing Name

While its roots can be traced back to the Fifties, Triumph’s Thruxton was born as a limited-edition racer in 1964. An instant success in endurance races, the exclusive Thruxton aptly earned its biggest accolade by claiming all three podium places at the 1969 Thruxton 500-mile race. With success at the Isle of Man TT following shortly after, the Thruxton became the first production motorcycle to lap the Mountain Course at over 100mph.

On track and on the street, it captured the spirit of the era - fueling the demand for stripped-back cafe racers of the 1960s and ’70s and inspiring a generation of traffic-light heroes. The new Thruxton 400 captures that spirit and style, re-imagined for a new generation.

Head Turning Cafe Racer Design

With its contemporary new take on the iconic Thruxton silhouette, the Thruxton 400 draws inspiration from Triumph’s racing heritage and takes design cues from its cafe racers that defined a genre.

The classic Triumph engine profile is complemented by a sculpted fuel tank, which is a fusion of flowing lines and sharp contemporary contours, with the Triumph triangle badge. Clip-on handlebars lower the front end for a more assertive stance, while the colour-coded bullet seat cowl, shortened rear mudguard and number plate hanger, plus a compact LED light contribute to a minimalist, purposeful rear. The upswept sports silencer, carried through from the Speed 400, completes the look, with a seamless, flowing exhaust line.

A new fairing houses the classic round LED headlight, contrasting with the sporty and stylish bar end mirrors, blending tradition with innovation. Four vibrant colour schemes feature sleek graphics and sporty contrast accents on the fuel tank, fairing and seat cowl, while the Matt Phantom Black side panel carries an aluminium finish badge bearing the Thruxton name.

The four schemes are: Lava Red Gloss and Aluminum Silver; Pearl Metallic White and Storm Grey; Metallic Racing Yellow with Aluminum Silver; and finally Phantom Black with Aluminum Silver.

Exciting And Characterful Engine

At the core of the Thruxton 400 is the most powerful iteration of Triumph’s TR-Series engine. Tuned for a more exhilarating ride, it produces 42PS at 9,000rpm, five percent more than the Speed 400, and 37.5Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. A new camshaft and revised engine tune allow the engine to rev higher and harder, delivering a thrilling top-end while maintaining the smooth, torque-rich performance and rich, distinctive soundtrack that defines the Triumph experience.

The engine’s distinctive power pulses and evocative exhaust note add to its character, while popular features on the Speed 400 such as liquid cooling, ride-by-wire throttle, linear power delivery and a six-speed gearbox ensure modern performance and efficiency. Whether navigating city streets or carving through twisty backroads, the Thruxton 400 offers flexible, class-leading performance and unrivalled character on every journey.

Fun And Sporty Riding Experience

With optimised ergonomics and a dedicated chassis, the new Thruxton 400 delivers a fun and sporty ride. The new chassis and revised suspension setup provide a sharper, more responsive feel, while the sporty handlebar and footpeg position give an engaged riding experience.

The new clip-on handlebars are 40mm narrower and 246mm lower than those on the Speed 400, while the rear-set footpegs are positioned 86mm further back and 27mm higher. This rotates the rider forward, creating a true cafe racer riding posture.

Black anodized upside-down forks with reduced travel optimised for sporty poise and response, and a new preload-adjustable mono-shock rear suspension unit with a higher spring rate, enhances the bike’s agility and control for a more focused ride. Robust Apollo Alpha H1 tires offer a sporty and grippy feel, ensuring confidence in every corner.

Just like the rest of the 400 range, the latest rider technology is seamlessly integrated on the Thruxton 400, with an integrated analogue speedometer and full-feature LCD display in a contemporary single dial design, USB-C charging port, switchable traction control, torque assist clutch and ABS.

Trademark Triumph Quality

From the new polished Monza-style fuel cap to Thruxton’s meticulous paintwork, every element of the design reflects Triumph’s unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and premium quality. Each detail has been thoughtfully engineered and finished to the highest standards, creating a motorcycle that blends striking aesthetics with technical precision.

The engine features machined cooling fins contributing towards its clean, uncluttered profile, while the stylish and lightweight cast aluminium wheels and four-piston radial caliper deliver both style and performance, seamlessly blending form and function in true Thruxton style.

Exceptional Value

The Thruxton 400 offers exceptional value to customers through its ownership proposition, including class-leading 10,000 miles (16,000km) service intervals and a two-year unlimited mileage warranty as standard. This combination of low running costs, long service intervals, and a comprehensive warranty makes the Thruxton 400 an ideal companion for both new and experienced riders.

Built to the same exacting standards as the new model, a wide range of genuine Triumph accessories is available to personalize the Thruxton 400. From bullet LED indicators to the tank pad, sump guard, engine guard and premium quilted seat, all high-quality accessories are designed alongside the motorcycle to ensure perfect fit and function and are covered by the same two-year unlimited mileage warranty.
