1. Following the promising launch of the XCD 135 DTS-Si, Bajaj has targetted its first month’s sale at 20,000 units in February 2009. This would make the XCD 135 DTS-Si the second largest brand in the 125cc+ motorcycle segment after the Bajaj Pulsar DTS-i.

2. Bajaj domestic motorcycle retail improved significantly in January 2009 and, combined with the restrained billing, has led to normalization of dealer inventory.

3. On the back of these positives – the Bajaj XCD 135 DTS-Si launch, better retails, and normalized dealer inventory levels – Bajaj expects its domestic motorcycle billing to improve significantly here onwards.

4. Lower 3-wheeler sales continue to reflect the subdued state of the commercial vehicle industry.

5. Exports continue to register double digit growth, but at a lower level than before, owing to both the base effect as also to the general slowdown in global markets.
