S. H. Khan

S. H. Khan (born on July 1, 1938) holds a masters degree in commerce from the University of Bihar with two gold medals. He is also an alumnus of the International Management Institute, Geneva.
He is a past chairman of the Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI).

After a brief stint as a lecturer in Jamshedpur, he joined the Reserve Bank of India as a probationary officer in 1961 from where, in 1966, he moved over to the Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI), which was then a subsidiary of the Reserve Bank.
He served IDBI with distinction for over 30 years in various capacities, including as its chairman and managing director for about five years until 1998. During his stewardship, IDBI experienced unprecedented growth in operations and profitability and emerged as one of the top development banks in the world.
He has also been on the boards of a number of financial institutions, Air India and Indian Airlines.
He has been on the board of Bajaj Auto Ltd since 1999.
